O, Canada… Teddy O

It has been so hot in Austin this summer, that it has finally started to break me. 23 years in and I finally can’t tell myself “I won’t complain about the heat because I hate the cold that we get less of here.”

So with great delight, I shall be packing the car full of clothes, snacks, and dog things and driving to British Columbia, where the forecast calls for low 70s as the daily highs. Apparently, they are sweltering right now in the high 70s which is a thing I remember people doing during my time in London.

it’s not just a joyride, though. We are going up to stage Maggie’s play Hot Dogs at the Eiffel Tower* at the. Victoria Fringe Festival. You really should come, it’s spectacular. Also, by next Thursday when she performs her first show the combination of DNA websites and adoption might have brought up yet another identity-changing revelation (I’ve kinda lost count of the ones she’s had to incorporate since she first performed a version of this play in 2006).

So this is my first blog entry here since 2011. I have a new last name. A new vocation.

And a new wing-ape. That’s him in the picture that heads this post.

Teddy the Orange Utan will be riding shotgun as we drive north, picking up Maggie in Seattle along the way. Teddy wants everyone to know that the Orange Utans are the best color of all the Utans. He’s very good company, never complains about my music and audiobook choices, and keeps Riley company. Because Riley is coming too lest we miss her too dearly. So, there may be many adventures to record along our route. Stay tuned to this site.

*I accidentally wrote that as Hit Dogs at the Eiffel Tower, which sounds like a canine-centric sequel to In Bruges. Which I would watch the hell out of.
